About Westside Memorial Gardens

Westside Memorial Gardens is operated by Grove Place Cemetery Association which was founded by a group of local citizens in 1856 with a vision for the future. They desired to have a local cemetery for the burial of their loved ones in their day, as well as many years in the future.

Opened in 2009, Westside offers a unique cemetery within a rural scenic park setting. Westside is located approximately 5 miles southwest of Grove Place Cemetery near the corner of Stryker and Chili-Scottsville Road, near the Chili American Legion Post. The cemetery was officially opened and dedicated with a ceremony conducted by the Chili American Legion Post on Veteran’s Day 2008. Westside has approximately 8 acres of developed and landscaped property with another 18 acres reserved for future development.

At Westside Memorial Gardens we have dedicated areas to honor our Veterans and First Responders (Firefighters, Law Enforcement and EMT). The graves in these areas are reserved for Veterans and Emergency Services personnel and their spouses. Discounted prices for are offered for those who have served in these areas. In 2019 we developed Section B, which consists of over 100 graves – all of which are East Facing.

The cemetery is non-denominational and continues to carry on the commitment made by the founders. Grove Place Cemetery Association is governed by a Board of Trustees, and in conformity with the Rules and Regulations of the State of New York, Department of State, Division of Cemeteries. Many families have chosen Westside Memorial Gardens as their final resting place; a living commentary on the care and constant maintenance of the cemetery.

The staff at Westside Memorial Gardens can assist you with questions, guide you on a tour of the grounds, assist you in selecting the area that meets your particular needs or planning a memorial service.

Permanent Maintenance Coverage

When a lot is purchased in either cemetery, Permanent Maintenance coverage is included at a nominal fee which equates to approximately two dollars over 30 years. It provides for the perpetual care and maintenance of the cemetery long after the cemetery has reached capacity. While the Association remains the custodian of these funds, New York State Auditors visit regularly to assure that these funds are invested and maintained properly, in accordance with the regulations of the State of New York, Department of State, Division of Cemeteries.

Grove Place and Westside Cemeteries have computerized mapping to assist in the location of graves. Our sales staff will be pleased to provide you with detailed instructions in helping you find the grave of a loved one.
